Solar Wind Power

Solar wind power is another form of solar energy. You are probably asking what wind power has to do with solar power. Well since wind is caused by the sun heating the air, causing the air to move across the earth’s surface you could say that wind is solar energy.

Wind can then be converted into mechanical or electrical energy by using wind turbines or “wind mills”. Wind mills or “wind pumps” have long been used in wind energy history for pumping water on farms and ranches in remote areas for livestock.

Wind power generators work just the opposite of a fan. Instead of using electricity to make wind, wind power turbines use wind to make electricity. The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a generator and makes electricity.
